March 15, 2012 Dave I would replace the battery anyway if the computer is more than three years old-they're only a couple of bucks. i have two internal HDDs one is WD(two years old) and a new samsung(master).. Is this a HDD failure or a software issue?? Internal Hard Disk Not Detected half gone.i tried partition recovery programs and tesdisk is the only one to show half as unreadable. Since it's still under warranty I would have them fix it again. they were both working fine,but yesterday i left the pc on to download a big file. If not, you might look into Ubuntu Linux-it's quite Windows-like.

The latter can often be found splashed across the screen when you first boot the PC. Therefore u should first check wether its working in any computer or u can check it by using some Bootable Partition disk software. There is no option like that.
