Well, bingo, the problem cleared up just like that. Obviously (from my experience) it is possible for something like a bad CD-ROM or DVD drive to make the HD light stay on, something I would not have previously guessed. All computers will do this, and that's normal. The problem with the noise that is mentioned in the topic is solved.
